When I got back to San Diego, I had some time before fall semester started.  I was offered my old job back within just a few days, but the requirement was I had to dye my hair back to a natural color and remove my piercings.  I wasn’t really prepared to do that, so I asked for some time to keep things in until after the local convention that I had planned on going to with my friends.  I really missed my cat Sassy, and I think she missed me.  We hung out a bit the first few days while I got over the jet lag and reverse culture shock.  My parents weren’t exactly pleased with the new me, but they didn’t shun me for it, just every meal or passing they’d make a comment about my hair or my clothes, and even though it was normal behavior for them to act the concerned and naggy parent, it was rather frustrating to be put back in that situation where my choices were unacceptable.  It was a hard few days.
